SPIDER. GRANDMOTHER OF CREATION.
· Symbolism: resourcefulness, protection, passion, purpose, divine alignment, healing
· Family: Mesothelae
The ancient eight-legged master sails through air on a line of silk, weaving poetic webs of life. Precise weaving is not learned, but innate instinct and a means of survival. A thread of silk has many uses – including mating, cocoon creation, and even marking escape routes! If natural elements destroy a perfect web, the spider will eat the remaining web for its protein and create once again. This being offers medicine of intelligence and resilience, while urging us to recognize the potent power of our resourcefulness, and how we can grow to be more inspired by our unique multidimensionality.
Even the smallest spiders can carry big fangs with potent venom. Know you pack a powerful punch should you choose to tap into it.
Quick and quiet, they are present when least expected. If you enjoy creating in solitude and sometimes feel “too secluded”, know you will align with the appropriate energetic exchange, even if you don’t see it yet. Despite having six or eight eyes, most spiders depend more on other senses. Navigating by sense of touch, listening to world around them with vibrations on earth, in air, web, or surfaces of water. Don’t always rely on your sight, steer away from distraction, and go within to note what comes to your minds eye.
Although they can go months without eating, they steadily prepare their web for the right catch and preserve venom for their meal. Remain in a state of trust with self and your readiness, know you are at the right place at the right time. If in a healthy state of receptivity, what is meant for you will never pass you by. A reminder to be patient, as divine timing is on your side.
A simple symmetrical image of their exoskeleton can represent protection of the aura. The beautifully complex spiderwebs can provide protection as well. In fact, the webs have traditionally been used for wound healing throughout time.
Working with spider medicine calls forth an embrace of the impact we wish to make in life, and integrating it into our everyday movements. Being so present to the point of becoming “lost in a dance”. This embodies the process of weaving webs of life. Integration, cycles, sacrifice, trust. Trust yourself, as you leading your own destiny with your own power.
Speak life over your masterpiece you paint, with every stroke.
