Though often misunderstood and feared for the ability to attack fiercely -the wasp is one of strength. With great awareness of what to defend. If you come across wasp medicine, this may be a message that you are meant to create something for the world that will outlive you. Wasps are the original “papermakers”, creating hives out of chewed wood. Working with the earth element, these beings know how to use their resources and are dedicated to transforming their environment into one that provides more safety.
Distinct differences can be found in the solitary wasp versus the colony wasp, as well as, male versus female duties. As opposed to the colony wasps that help rid environments of pests, the solitary wasp very rarely stings -as they have too much work to do. Sometimes a wasp that’s part of a colony may leave if the hive is not providing enough security and stability. A reminder that if at any moment you are not liking what is being built, you can create a new foundation and home. Home is everything to wasps and they’re willing to work towards cultivating peace within one. While drones, or male wasps pollinate and help create new life, this is a very female dominated species that takes care of the food, building of the hive and more. Females carry the stingers (which are actually sex organs which injects eggs, and also a means of protection). If carrying a stinger, you must be passionate about protective of the empire you are building. This can signify the need to sometimes appear harsh in the eyes of others, and the responsibility of knowing when and where to use the stinger and own it!
If you’re coming across wasps often then you may be wanting to start a business or work on a large project. You will need to put in the work. Remember: you may not always be liked, but you will be respected.
If pregnant with ideas, dreams and goals, the queen wasp may inspire you –as she also embodies a worker wasp. When a pregnant queen wakes from hibernation, her colony is dead, and she is all alone. She then is responsible for every task required to build her empire. She finds a safe location, births larva, and hunts for food to feed them, shows the young how to continue the legacy, and teaches drones how to care for the others. Once baby queens emerge to create their own empires, then the queen wasp’s work is done.
When working with wasps, you may become easily agitated, have a fierce sting for anything that may pose a threat to your goals. Be aware of each action. It’s not an easy medicine to work with.
